Some jokes are so old that nobody remembers who first invented them. They simply keep going around, like a good campfire song. I heard this one recently:

“God promised men that a lovely woman could be found in every corner of the world. Then He made the world round.”

You can picture the scene immediately. First, a wonderful promise. The men look at one another expectantly. “In every corner?” That sounds manageable. Four corners, perhaps eight if you are feeling creative. It should be possible.

And then… the Earth arrives.

No corners. Only roundness. You can keep searching forever. Every time you think, “I will be there after this bend,” another bend appears.

Perhaps that is part of life's charm. The finest things are rarely waiting neatly at a crossroads beneath a sign. They appear while you are travelling. Sometimes at a petrol station, sometimes at a festival, sometimes in the supermarket, and sometimes they turn out to have been sitting beside you on the sofa for more than thirty years.

And for the women reading this: the same naturally applies to you. You were not given a world with corners either.

Fortunately.

A world without corners may be a little harder, but it is much lovelier to travel around together. 😊
