Ten seconds is nothing. A traffic light. A sip of coffee. Waiting for a website to load.
And yet sometimes entire worlds fit inside ten seconds.
A glance from someone who does not know you are watching.
A hand on a shoulder.
A horse deciding that apparently, you are all right.
A stranger smiling.
A son who suddenly turns out not to be a little boy anymore.
The moment you press the shutter, before you even know why.
Perhaps that is what photography ultimately is.
Not capturing 1/250th of a second, but seeing the ten seconds before it coming.
And continuing to look for the ten seconds after.
Because the story is rarely in the click.
It lives around it.
