Close enough to keep looking

Deep Portrait is about the moment when a face stops being a surface and becomes a place to stay for a while.

The series is built around closeness, but not intrusion. I am interested in the small changes in expression, skin, gaze and silence that appear when someone is not asked to perform for the camera.

A portrait can easily become a statement. These portraits try to be quieter than that. They ask the viewer to keep looking, not to solve the person in the image, but to accept that a face can hold more than one answer.
